The Importance of a Home Yoga Practice

We have gone over Private Yoga Classes as well as, Choosing the Right Yoga Class for You or Try Different Yoga Classes but, let’s touch on the importance of a home practice.  Quite often, especially with muscle memory, we tend to practice what we have been taught rather than what feels right.  It is upon practicing at home, with no one to tell you what to do, that you shall find your true “flow”, if you will.

Practicing at home is great as it embraces a practice without ego.  While you may still feel influenced by your ego at times, you will be less likely to act on it.  When practicing at home you no longer have that competition pushing you in the back of your head.  After all, this is your practice, in the privacy of your home.  It also takes the bit of judgement out of the practice.  The only person that could be judging you, is you, so tell your ego to shut it.img_1050

With this, you may find it easier to stay present within your practice.  You are not competing, you are not being judged, your ego is “quieter” and you are now able to flow through what feels right to you.  The best part of your home practice is listening to your body and what feels right in this moment.

In a home practice, while in this present moment, it is also easier to look inward and reflect.  There is no one to listen to, you only need to listen to your body, your mind, your soul.  If a pose does not feel right, you get out of it, you do not even get into.  This is the epitome of YOUR practice.  You will learn so much about your self, body, mind and spirit, during your home practice.

It will be amazing.

  1. I like doing stretches before I go to bed just recently I was finally able to put my right leg behind my head , but that’s probably as far as I’ll go there’s no way I’ll be able to put both legs behind my head I’d literally die. the investigators would come in and they’d find a pretzel shaped body.
